Justina has cultivated a life that beautifully intertwines the essence of family, friends, love and art. From an early age she was enchanted by the world of colours and textures, thanks in large part to her Opa, who introduced her to the delicate art of oil painting at the age of 8. This early exposure did not just spark a passion; it ignited a lifelong commitment to exploring the depths of creativity and expression through art.
As a mother of two, Justina has been trying to balance the demands of parenthood with her unyielding dedication to her craft. Jacklyne, her partner, has been a pillar of support, inspiration, and love, contributing to an environment that nurtures both her family and artistic ambitions.
Justina along with co-owner, Luvia Petersen, opened Liquid Amber Tattoo and Art Collective Inc. in 2001. They have established a space for artists to flourish and have also been at the forefront to redefine the intersection between traditional art forms and the dynamic world of tattooing for women. For over two decades their leadership has propelled Liquid Amber into a revered institution that celebrates diversity, creativity, and the unending pursuit of artistic excellence.

Her art is not just seen; it is felt, inviting viewers into a world where every hue and line tells a story of resilience, beauty, and the enduring power of the human spirit.
In her life and through her art, Justina embodies the essence of creativity unleashed. With every project, every piece and every day, she continues to inspire those around her to embrace the beauty of expression and the transformative power of art.
Which hood are you in?
Currently reside in Langley but my tattoo shop is in East Vancouver.
What do you do?
I am an owner and tattoo artist at Liquid Amber Tattoo and Art Collective Inc. I am also an artist working with multi mediums such as oil, acrylic, watercolour, soapstone, and wood.
What are you currently working on?
I'm currently preparing for an upcoming show titled "Painting the Path," which will debut on March 23rd from 7-10pm at Liquid Amber Tattoo Studio. This mixed-medium exhibition features paintings, woodwork, and functional art inspired by life's lessons, human emotions, and the natural world. My aim is to create art that not only captivates the eye but also engages the sense of touch, immersing viewers in textures and emotions. Through this sensory experience, I hope to convey stories of resilience, beauty, and the indomitable power of the human spirit.
Where can we find your work?
With over 20 years of experience in tattooing, most of my art lives on the bodies of countless clients. I would estimate over 4,000 people are wearing my tattoos.
In addition to my work adorning skin, you can also experience my art on canvas at Liquid Amber Tattoo. Join us for the showcase opening on March 23rd from 7-10pm at 902 Commercial Drive.
